Derek Hames

Derek Hames is a record producer, artist manager, and founder of Edgewater Music Group, a Houston-based music production, artist management, and music distribution firm dedicated to emerging artists.  He’s a member of the Recording Academy and a voting member of the GRAMMY Awards, and his production work has been critical in landing Edgewater a contract for exclusive distribution with RED Nashville, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.  Derek produces music for artists primarily in the rock, country, indie, roots rock, and Americana genres, including northwest Arkansas’ National Park Radio (signed to All Eyes Media alongside Jason Isbell and The Turnpike Troubadours), Spacebear (whose record with Derek charted on CMJ earlier this year), White Oak Music Hall founder Will Thomas’ Grand Old Grizzly, Free Press Houston favorite Charlie & The Regrets, and Austin’s Southern rock powerhouse The Drugstore Gypsies, alongside other notable regional artists such as Cody Joe Tillman, Kahé, Blu Swayze, Lane Thomas, Jarrod Morris, The Tyburn Jig, and Electric Heights, among others.

John Shelton

John Shelton is a recording and mix engineer and founder of Edgewater Music Group.  John is a member of the Recording Academy and a voting member of the GRAMMY Awards.  As part of Edgewater Music Group, his engineering work is exclusively distributed via RED Nashville, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.  John has recorded and mixed a wide variety of music including rock, country, roots rock, and Americana genres.  John has worked with a number of artists including National Park Radio, Spacebear, Charlie & the Regrets, the Drugstore Gypsies, Grand Old Grizzly, Blu Swayze, Cody Joe Tillman, Kahe, Jarrod Morris, Electric Heights, and Lane Thomas.  The son of former Fender Musical Instruments Vice-President Jack Shelton, John grew up around music.  John is also a talented session guitarist and has performed for numerous artists, record labels, and production companies around the world.  With BA’s from TCU in both Finance and Marketing, he also serves as Edgewater’s CFO.
